Oxford University releases new round of interview questions

Candidates asked to consider the purpose of law and the morality of air travel in latest batch of sample interview material Efforts by Oxford University to elucidate its interview process and soothe applicants’ nerves got under way this week with the annual release of sample questions and – crucially – the answers to them. Law candidates invited to interview could find themselves being asked: “Should it be illegal to run a red light in the middle of the night on an empty road?” Those applying to study modern languages might be asked: “What do we lose if we only read a foreign work of literature in translation?” 12-10-17

I haver a question about Oxford University's history. Please read below.? I read that Oxford University was founded by English students who were expelled from the University of Paris. But why were they expelled? Also, read that Henry II further banned English students from studying at the University of Paris. Why did he ban them? Please reply.
OK, you're asking a hell of a lot of university questions, and they're all pretty similar, so let me offer some thoughts. Firstly, the above question doesn't make sense, it should be "prestigous", not "prestige", and if you haven't mastered the difference between adjectives and nouns, the I would seriously suggest you rethink higher education. Oxford Brookes is a relatively decent "new" university, and fine if you want to study modern, less academic subjects (such as sports science, psychology etc.) No, it's not prestigous, and neither is Dundee. If you want to go to a University wih a prestigous reputation, then your choices are limited to the older universities and the main London institutions. By this I mean Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, Edinburgh, St. Andrews, Kings College London, Imperial, University College London, LSE. The above is only relevant if you're concerned about reputation. As far as actually getting a decent education goes, there are plenty of fine universities, depending on the course you want to do e.g. if it's Anthropology then SOAS is great, despite it being a 'new' university. Consult some recent league tables if it helps. Personally, no I would not want to study in Dundee. I think that the best places in Scotland are Edinburgh, St. Andrews and Aberdeen.
Can anyone guide me for aga khan uni (karachi) 2nd interview questions? i heard 2nd interview questions r very tricky if possible pls help!?
It depends how you're using that term. The Ivy League is actually a sports conference, like the ACC and the Big Ten. But many people use the term "Ivy League" just mean the top, elite universities. A man name Richard Moll proposed a list of "public Ivies" 1985, including College of William & Mary (Williamsburg, Virginia) Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) University of California (9 campuses as of 1985)[7] University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill University of Texas at Austin University of Vermont (Burlington) University of Virginia (Charlottesville) These schools are often included in lists of the top 100 universities in the world.
Hi Sciencegurl Presuming that you have experience in a care home and ideally with a medical practitioner, you are in a positive situation. Your GCSE profile is impressive and will help at Oxford more than Cambridge for admission to Medicine. The critical element is the result in the BMAT. I am pleased to see that you are taking the sciences and maths as the BMAT will question you on all four elements. Oxford uses an algorithm using your GCSE score and BMAT score to determine a final score... they will interview three applicants per place based on this... with over ten applicants per place they will cull a good number of students before the interview stage. As things stand you are in a positive situation... but don't put all your eggs in the Oxford basket. Oxford and Cambridge reject so many very talented scientists for medicine simply because they don't have the space. With your GCSE profile, do look at both St Andrews (my favourite UK course in medicine outside of Oxbridge) and Birmingham - both give store to good GCSE A* profiles. Best wishes to you with your future work.

Is Oxford Still the 'Best University'? As the chairman of the admissions committee at Oxford University, Sir Tim Lankester knows just how hard students fight to win spots at the world’s best colleges. But, over the last few years, he has also been on the cutting edge of the increasingly tough battle between universities to woo the world’s best students as more top institutions spring up everywhere from Australia to China. Lankester, who is also the president of Oxford’s Corpus Christi College, spoke to NEWSWEEK’s Emily Flynn Vencat. Excerpts: ...

Questions about old job in passport interview My friend is working in a govt organization in India since 18 years. Before that, he visited UAE and worked one year. At that time a dispute happened and he broke the contract and resigned, and came back to India. Last time in 2007, when he got passport reissued there was no problem. As he applied through the post office in 2007. That time the hard copy was submitted along with old passport. After having reissued passport, he got tourist visa also to visit the USA and Europe. This time passport reissue form is to be submitted via online. So there is appointment and interview like situation. Would they ask any question about the employer of UAE (background check) seeing old passport visa? Or would the police ask questions during verification? There is a psychological fear and because of that, he is feeling problems. Does police verification happen in the passport reissue case (address is same since 18 years)?. If it happens, then does the enquirer ask about the previous employer (of 18 years old) at old address?.

And what would be a good answer for those questions? What are the benefits that B2 has over the waiver visa program besides the length of stay?
