Edinburgh to London in ‘45 minutes’ - Branson reveals Hyperloop plans
Sir Richard Branson has invested in a Hyperloop firm which he claims will transport passengers between London and Scotland in 45 minutes.
Edinburgh is lovely.. It's the best city in the world. It's very clean and the people are very helpfull. Even the bus drivers are different..... They don't move the bus untill u are fully seating or are safe. Edinburgh has a lot of history and u can get from one side to the other in about 20 minutes. 5 minutes outside Edinburgh, the houses are a lot cheaper...so u can live outside and work in the city centre. the schools etc are a lot better than somewhere like London. If I were u, I would go for it.
From George Square in Glasgow to St.Andrews Square in Edinburgh is 44 miles. But how long it will take you to do that 44 miles depnds when you do it! I have done this trip in 50 minutes (but I did leave Princes Street in Edinburgh about 3am!) Outwith the peak periods, allow 75 minutes for the journey (remembering that much of central Edinburgh resembles London in the blitz as they prepare for the trams). During the peak you can add another 30 minutes to this time. And, if you do the journey in winter, remember that the M8/A8 is very exposed in the Shotts/Harthill/Livingston area and is subject to thick fog and black ice (and sometimes both), which will add yet more time. {On one fateful night it took me over three hours to go from Maybury Roundabout to George Square!)
Canada Water, London is very near to London City Airport. You can fly to Edinburgh from there. It's expensive as it's mostly used by business people, but it's by far the quickest and most hassle free way of getting from London to Edinburgh. The flight is an hour. You can fly to Edinburgh from all the other London airports and flights will be cheaper than from London City. Driving will take you around 7-8 hours depending on traffic. Forget about trying to avoid traffic, you will hit it somewhere on route. You will be using some of the busiest roads in the country i.e. M1, M6, M42 and A74 motorways. Not to mention getting out of London itself. Another option is the train. About 4½ hours from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh Waverly or overnight from London Euston, about 8 hours. Lastly you can also go by bus. National Express run services from London Victoria bus station to St Andrews Square, Edinburgh and the Megabus, which can be cheaper. Bus travel will take between 9 and 10 hours.
London to Edinburgh on Megabus. That is a bit like crossing the Atlantic on a rowing boat. If you haven't booked yet check for cheap rail fares from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh. Book as far ahead as possible for the lowest fares. It takes 4 hours 30 minutes and the trains are comfortable. A railcard will save you a further 34% www.railcard.co.uk
EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND — Plans have just been lodged with Edinburgh City Council for a scheme that involves the demolition of the B-listed New Victoria / Odeon cinema. The plans can be viewed online here in detail: http://citydev-portal.edinburgh.gov.uk/W... In summary though, only the facade is to be retained, and that is to be extended by an extra glass floor above current roof level. The auditorium is to be totally swept away.
If you are going from London Virgin is the fastest. They run every 20 minutes and the journey takes 1 hour 23 minutes. from London Euston to Birmingham New Street Station For the lowest fares book well ahead for specifically timed trains Chiltern Railways from London Marylebone to Birmingham Snow Hill/Moor Street run every 30 minutes taking 95 to 110 minutes with lots of cheap fare offers www.chilternrailways.co.uk

Do seasonal flights from Trondheim to Edinburgh, London, or any other part of the UK exist? Planning a trip with my in-laws to the UK next year, and the Swedes around me keep insisting that we can fly from Trondheim instead of Arlanda, which would be a lot more convenient. I'm not finding anything on skyscanner though. Is it too early for the flights to show up, if they even do exist? I'm talking the June-August period. I'm mostly interested in flights to Edinburgh.I know we can fly via Oslo, but I would prefer a non-stop option.
Flying into London, overnight train to Edinburgh that evening, where to stow bags/shower? Looking for advice for how to manage things during a one-day "layover" between a flight (from the US) and the overnight train from London to Edinburgh.I'm heading to Scotland for a wedding in the fall, and will be seeing some of England as well. We're using London as our flight base of operations (flight from US to/from London), and taking the Caledonian Sleeper to Edinburgh. I have myself, my wife, and two children (2 and 4).On the way in, we'll be taking an overnight flight to London, landing around noon. We're then taking the Sleeper that evening. We're travelling Economy class (on Virgin Atlantic, to LHR) from/to the US, and haven't yet booked our train tickets. What are our best options for stowing our bags and taking showers? We plan to spend the day in London seeing a few sights (though we'll be back the next week for a longer period). The way I see it we have a few choices, given we want to take one shower sometime between the flight and the next day (so either before the sleeper ride, or after @ Edinburgh).Stow bags at LHR vs stow bags @ Euston, or perhaps a third location?Shower @ LHR vs Shower @ Euston vs Shower @ Edinburgh; for Euston, we can get first class tickets to use the Lounge, or otherwise pay.Is there a better option of these? I've never used showers at a public airport/train station before, though I'm sure we'll manage with anything that's usable. We're in particular concerned about the kids (who we don't worry about showering/bathing, but we do want to not lose track of!) and also read that in Euston they won't necessarily be allowed in the Virgin lounge.
How to visit Edinburgh during a layover at Edinburgh Airport? Is a 6 hour layover in Edinburgh enough time to get into the city (Apple Store) and back to the airport in time for your next flight? If so, how do you recommend I get to the city and back?
