Financial insecurity is taking a toll on women’s mental health, expert says

It’s been a week since Equal Pay Day – the day when women in the UK effectively begin working for free for the remainder of the year due to the gender pay gap. Put simply, the gender pay gap is the average difference between how much men and women make for doing the same job and in the UK the gap is sitting at a steady 14.1 per cent. Liz Walker, HR director at Unum UK – a leading employee benefits provider – spoke to the Standard and revealed that the pay gap has a ‘profound effect’ on a woman’s independence, resilience to financial shocks and preparedness for the future. 17-11-17

How do I explain to my parents that someone’s mental health can take a toll on their grades?
Can I function better in life without antipsycotics as a schizophrenic? I can not give a professional opinion, but you should never go cold turkey very suddenly, as that can be quite detrimental to your mental health. I would talk to whoever has been prescribing you your medication about the pros and cons, and then how to go about weaning off your meds if you truly desire it. I'm not sure of your reasons for wishing to quit, but just keep in mind that there is no shame in taking meds for mental health, just the same as it is for physical health. No matter your choice, I wish you the best!
when you are at home really bored, what do you do? Hi, everyone gets bored from time to time, but continuous boredom each day is a cause for concern, as it can affect our mental health. I note you have mental health issues so I trust you're receiving medical care from your GP/psychiatrist. You could check with your GP to see if there is any support group in your area for people experiencing mental health issues. These groups are great as your meeting with people with similar mental health issues and sharing coping skills. You could also check for this information on the National Health Service website at and search under mental health. There is a great benefit to taking daily exercise such as walking which is both good for mind and body. If you enjoy reading consider joining a book club. Some people keep a mood diary as a means of keeping a check on their mental wellbeing, what's working well and what's not working. Each of us have to make the effort, not always easy to do, so as to keep ourselves functioning well both mentally and physically. While TV, games etc are all good they are not a substitute for not having contact with people. Good to hear that you have a supportive mum. I wish you well for the future.
Can you be "radicalized" unless you want to or? I would say anyone who has been radicalised enough to blow themselves up while their "mentor" watches from a safe position has a mental health problem. I have worked with a few people (Christian) who have for various reasons thought they are on missions from God. Luckily these people are already in the mental health system and can be treated with medication and counselling. The problem is that these people are preyed upon by others who use them to carry out their evil aims. But as for what has caused them to have mental health problems, it is hard to say for definite, but I would not be surprised if being locked up in Gitmo for three years solid had something to do with it. And before people rubbish the mental health point, remember 1 in 3 people will suffer from mental health issues in their lives. Not all are serious but those which are and go untreated can be tragic.
Marijuana and schizophrenia? My biological mother is schizophrenic and I myself deal with a number of mental health issues. I used to smoke several years ago and it didn't really effect my mental health but if i were to start smoking again, im nervous it might worsen my mental health. Am i at risk? I used to have paranoia and panic...
I get really bad anxiety and I heard exercise really helps..does anyone know what form of exercise would be best to rid of the anxiety? Anxiety is a psychological issue. While exercise can help reduce the degree, it does not rid you of it. For that you will need to seek a mental health expert.

Where should mental health questions go?
Identify this movie about a women in a mental hospital I saw this movie several years ago, but I can't find it anymore since it is not a very well known movie. The movie was a Mystery/Thriller: The protagonist was a psychiatrist or a doctor who works with mentally ill people. A women connects with him and ask him to come to I think it was Spain to help her sister who is diagnosed with schizophrenia . This "psychiatrist/doctor" is actually married, but his wife (according to him) has left him without telling him nothing. (I am saying this because at the end he remembers that he killed her). He goes there and talks with the patient. She has 3 personalities (She changes eye color when switching between personalities and she talks other languages that she doesn't know like Japanese/Chinese, and one of her personalities smoke cigarettes). The "psychiatrist/doctor" acknowledges that her personalities are murder victims. Their spirits have settled in her body. At the end he finds that he killed the girls who are her personalities and his wife too. I think the movie has a lesson like in "Hide and seek." That the psychiatrist for so many years has worked with mentally ill people that he finally became like them. I remember that in the mental hospital the doctors talked Spanish or a similar language.
