On Thursday, 27 July a police officer was dismissed following a misconduct hearing. Police Constable Matthew Sherratt, an officer attached to North Area Command Unit, was formally dismissed from the Metropolitan Police Service following a Special Case misconduct hearing. The officer faced charges of a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of ‘Confidentiality’ when he recorded and shared a police intelligence briefing with a person not employed by the Metropolitan Police Service. The panel found the allegation proven and that the officer had breached the standards of professional behaviour in such a serious way that this amounted to gross misconduct. The chair determined that the only appropriate sanction was dismissal without notice. Chair Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley, said: “The officer has shared police intelligence including personal details of many offenders that presents immediate risk of compromise to police operations and undermines public trust in the police. “The officer has recently had training that included instructions on confidentiality of data/information and I therefore determine that dismissal without notice was the only option I felt to be appropriate.” Source link PC dismissed for breaching confidentiality was originally published on News London
What is the meaning of the phrase "to your suffering"?
I was reading an article on the internet and encountered a phrase like so: to your suffering The full sentence is: Space is indifferent to your suffering. I wonder what does "to your suffering" mean? It would be great if anyone can explain it.

The optimism of la belle époque was destroyed, and those who had fought in the war were referred to as the Lost Generation. For years afterwards, people mourned the dead, the missing, and the many disabled. Many soldiers returned with severe trauma, suffering from shell shock (also called neurasthenia, a condition related to posttraumatic stress disorder). Many more returned home with few after-effects; however, their silence about the war contributed to the conflict's growing mythological status. Though many participants did not share in the experiences of combat or spend any significant time at the front, or had positive memories of their service, the images of suffering and trauma became the widely shared perception. Such historians as Dan Todman, Paul Fussell, and Samuel Heyns have all published works since the 1990s arguing that these common perceptions of the war are factually incorrect.

Probably there was no one in either party who was so thoroughly bewildered by the incident which had just transpired as Captain Somers. The mystery of his companion's antecedents was in a fair way to be cleared up, though in a very unsatisfactory manner to those most intimately concerned. The conversation, and the verification of the rebel officer's statements, showed that De Banyan was not De Banyan; that the brave and brilliant Federal officer was not a Federal officer; that, of all he had been, only the "brave" and "brilliant" remained.
Wyllard laughed. "Strictly speaking, it isn't in the least, but unnecessary chaos is hateful, and, any way, I'm not the only one who doesn't seem to like it. There's the petty officer, and our friend, the sergeant, who was with Roberts in Afghanistan."
