How to watch USPGA Championship 2017 – final day
Difference between word-final iː, i and ɪ
As we know, English usually contrasts the two high front vowels /i:/ and /ɪ/, and many different minimal pairs exist for this (e.g. /sli:p/ vs /slɪp/). However, at the end of a word, we usually have neither /ɪ/ nor /i:/, but /i/ (e.g. /sɪti/). For a long time, I believed that this was, effectively, a merger of /i:/ and /ɪ/ in word-final positions. However, I recently stumbled upon some minimal pairs that seemingly have an /i:/-/i/ distinction in word-final positions, e.g. guarantee vs guaranty or trustee vs trusty. So, I was wondering: 1) Are these really different sounds, or is this more an case of spelling-pronunciation? 2) Is it because the stressing changes? 3) And if they are different, can /ɪ/ occur at the end of a word as well? 4) Are there /i/-/ɪ/ minimal pairs, or maybe even /i:/-/i/-/ɪ/ minimal triples? 5) Effectively, is /i/ an independent phoneme or a word-final allophone of /i:/ and/or /ɪ/, and when do the different variants occur (word-finally)?
PGA Championship: Kevin Kisner leads as Green Mile takes its toll
Kevin Kisner held a slender one-shot lead over fellow American Chris Stroud and Japan's Hideki Matsuyama as Quail Hollow's infamous "Green Mile" finishing holes took their toll in Saturday's third round of the PGA Championship.<div class="feedflare"> <a href="http://rss.cnn.com/~ff/rss/cnn_latest?a=3ub0ICTIrKA:4ewSjuGwYTs:yIl2AUoC8zA"><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/rss/cnn_latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA" border="0"></img></a> <a href="http://rss.cnn.com/~ff/rss/cnn_latest?a=3ub0ICTIrKA:4ewSjuGwYTs:7Q72WNTAKBA"><img src="http://feeds.feedburner

The Open Championship was once again contested at Carnoustie in July 2007. The eight-year absence was far shorter than the lengthy 24 years it took to return to Carnoustie, between 1975 and 1999. Harrington triumphed over García in a four-hole playoff. The 18th hole once again proved itself among the most dramatic and exciting in championship golf. Harrington had a one-shot lead over García as he approached the final hole in the fourth round, but proceeded to put not one but two shots into the Barry Burn, on his way to a double-bogey 6. García, playing in the final pairing of the day, reached the 18th with a one-shot lead over Harrington, but bogeyed the hole after missing a putt from just under ten feet away, setting up the playoff. In the four-hole playoff, which ended on the 18th, Harrington took no chances with a two-shot lead on the 18th; his bogey was enough to defeat García by one shot.

Next year he was still more astonished to see in the same paper that Comet, handled by Swygert, had won first place in a Western trial, and was prominently spoken of as a National Championship possibility. As for him, he had no young entries to offer, but was staking everything on the National Championship, where he was to enter Larsen's Peerless II.
This kind attitude toward Uncle Jason in his trouble was not assumed by many, as Janice had foretold. A man like Jason Day in a community like Polktown was bound to win disapproval from many of his neighbors.
