How did London get so amazing? I mean, look at it: Tower Bridge, the Gherkin, the Palace of Westminster, the Shard, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Lloyd's Building, the Tower of London, the Royal Courts of Justice, and more... How in the world did London become like this? How did they even build these thing?
Historical London attractions? The London dungeon shows the history of torture and is interesting. Go to Westminster Abbey where the majority of the kings and queens were crowned, married and buried (there is also an interesting museum in there with their death masks in). Try Hampton court where Henry V111 lived. You can visit inside Buckingham palace and the houses of parliament (book first) in the summer months. The houses of parliament are built on the site of the first palace of the early kings - the palace of westminster - you can visit westminster hall in the houses of parliament one of the last remnants of this old palace. There is also the cabinet war rooms in Whitehall where Churchill worked from in the war. There is the banqueting house which was the scene of Charles 1st execution and the only surviving remnant of Whitehall palace but its a bit boring. The museum of London is interesting and explores London throughout its history with lots of archaeological finds That should keep you going for a while Have a great time!
Dear Londoners, how do you feel about your mayor now that he's showing his regressive socialist side after his ineptitude in tackling...? Police have actually been quite successful combating terrorism, thwarting plots and making arrests after the latest failed attempt and no. Nothing they do will ever make a difference. The day after the 7/7 bombings Londoners were back to business as usual. As with the Westminster attack, the following day business as usual. Westminster bridge looked like any other day. The image certain media outlets like to paint of a nation reeling in terror is false and absurd and presumably the same image that equates to an ISIS wetdream.
Why did Charles Darwin start Atheism? Charles Darwin wasn't an atheist, he was a Christian, his funeral was conducted by canon Prothero at Westminster Abbey, where his body was placed near to Isaac Newton's.
Is it fair to blame Theresa May for the terror attacks in the UK in the past three months? It is alleged by the Left that the Tories cut 20,000 police officers, I do not agree with these cuts, but could they have really made a difference? The Westminster attack and the attack last night were opportunistic. The police themselves even said there's not much which can be done with these scum decide to...

Cheapest way to get to Westminster from Downtown LA? I'd like some suggestions on how to cheaply get from Downtown LA (around the Financial District, Union station...area) to Westminster in OC, CA (specifically the Little Saigon Market area there) cheaply. I hope to be able to leave early in the morning (between 6:00am - 8:30am) and return at around noon on the same day.I have considered taking an Uber, which will cost me between $42 and $55 and will take me roughly 1hr, but would like some alternatives. I haven't really found any good bus routes yet, and as far as I'm aware the LA metro does not go sufficiently far from downtown LA to be able to get near Westminster to make it worthwhile to book a short car trip afterwards there (e.g. I don't think it goes as far as Garden Grove, which if it did would allow me to then take a short car trip to Westminster).EDIT: This is a three person round trip, so it would help if the total cost of transporting all three people is considered.
Why is The Mall (Westminster, London) pronounced like mawl? Why is The Mall pronounced differently even though it shares the same spelling as mall (shopping)?
What to do when creeped out by Charlie Chaplin on Westminster Bridge? Firstly, although still quite a newbie to the city, I'm NOT a tourist so I'm perfectly fine around such minor threats - I just ignore everybody around me - Londoners will understand. Just kidding :)So the question is, why are there creepy characters on Westminster bridge? I usually see this character dressed up as Charlie Chaplin. A Google search says that they try to convince tourists to pose for pictures with them, and then demand an extortionist cash fee. However, I have only seen these characters trying to, albeit very stupidly indeed, scare the sh** out of unsuspecting tourists and not at all interested in asking for money[1]. The latest I have seen is the character photobombing a woman who was taking a photo of the Thames. Needless to say, the woman walked away in disgust.Whatever be their purpose, it just cheapens the experience to see such activities around such a prestigious place, i.e., right under the nose of the Houses of the Parliament.QuestionsIf I am showing my friends or family around Westminster bridge and these characters try to raise a ruckus,Is it safe to shout for the police? Is it preferable and safe to immediately dial 999?Or should an encounter be dealt with patience and cunning? Why don't the authorities assign more police officers on that bridge, which is right under the nose of the Houses of the Parliament?Do these characters come out only after dusk?[1]What do these characters want?
